Assistant Manager – CPG

Roles and responsibilities

  • Execute business research projects in the area of strategy, procurement and/or marketing for various clients
  • Understand research objectives based on client type and accordingly develop a work approach; interpret and analyze information for accuracy, exhaustiveness and applicability
  • Work as a lead analyst and contribute to the entire project lifecycle across assignments through exhaustive research, data interpretation, insight generation/analysis, and report preparation
  • Synthesize analytical and actionable insights – through qualitative and quantitative methods –  which provide solutions to the client’s business problem, and present this information in a structured manner
  • Deliver high-quality, client-ready output consistently and on time; ensure there are no gaps in quality pertaining to research and analysis in the work under purview while working as lead analyst
    As project lead:
  • Independently lead and guide team(s) on all aspects of execution, encompassing effort estimation, timelines, content, and client engagement (including emails and conference calls) 
  • Manage projects/modules of projects with a team of research analysts by planning their work, performing quality checks on their output and giving them regular feedback on technical as well as business skills
  • Keep analyst team motivated, handle difficult situations, e.g., disagreement among team members
    Coach and mentor analysts on best practices of research delivery

Ideal Candidate

  • Excellent business research skills, as evidenced by extensive experience in utilizing such skills in a research environment
  • Critical thinking skills and analytical bend of mind, to seek the why, how and so-what of a problem statement
  • Superior problem solving abilities, strong business acumen and ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to translate client objectives/business requirements into clear deliverables
  • Proficient at identifying relevant tools and techniques to meet client objectives
  • Exceptional communication skills (both written and oral
  • Project management – excellent project management skills including project planning, task prioritization and allocation, work delivery and quality management
  • People management – ability to handle peoples’ aspirations, career goals and help them grow
  • Client management – strong client service orientation; can establish positive client relationship
  • Degree in numerate discipline
  • MBA: Desirable
  • 4 to 8 years of experience in the research and consulting (KPO) industry
  • Experience in gathering relevant information from a host of business research sources (reports, news, articles, databases, paid interviews, etc.) and synthesizing that in research environment
  • Experience in handling multiple projects and 5-6 member team, and managing resources efficiently:
  • Experience in playing a client-facing role (over phone and email) – manage client expectations, understand their requirements, and execute the tasks with the team
  • Experience in consumer products goods space : Desirable
  • Knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of various industries and other concepts such as competitive intelligence, best practices, sourcing strategy, and key performance indicators
  • Knowledge of one’s educational background with clear understanding of fundamentals and concepts: Expertise in using MS
  • PowerPoint, MS Excel and MS Word creatively manner to deliver the desired output
  • Hands-on experience/knowledge of various databases such as LexisNexis, Thomson ONE, Bloomberg, and Capital IQ
  • Knowledge of conducting open-ended primary research to garner industry-specific insights
